Julie L. Kim, O.D.

Dr. Julie L. Kim has been practicing optometry since 1989. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA and is a graduate of the Pacific University College of Optometry. After finishing Optometry School, Dr. Kim continued her education with a residency at the Seattle and American Lake VA Medical Centers. In addition to her commitment to her family and work, she has been involved in various services such as school vision screenings and a vision mission trip to Tanzania, Africa. Currently, she is involved with various activities in her community and her church. Dr. Kim also speaks some Korean and a little Spanish.


Garineh M. Nersisyan, O.D.

 

Dr. Nersisyan is a 2010 graduate of Southern California College of Optometry. She received her bachelor's degree in Biomedical Physics from California State University, Northridge in 2006. Her optometric experience includes externships at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona and Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in West Los Angeles. Understanding the importance and role of ethics in optometry, she was the recipient of the Ethics Endowed Scholarship in 2008.

Currently she practices full-scope optometry in southern California. In addition to primary care, pediatrics, and contact lenses, she is glaucoma certified and licensed to treat ocular diseases. Dr. Nersisyan is a current member of the American Optometric Association and California Optometric Association. She is active in community service and has volunteered as an optometrist for the Special Olympics and participated in several vision screenings. In support of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, she recently formed a team, "Dr. Nersisyan's Fight for Sight" which participates in the annual walkathon, VisionWalk.
In addition to English, she speaks fluent Armenian.

In her spare time she enjoys cooking, spending time with friends and family, and enjoys the outdoors with her husband, Chris, and Great Pyrenees, Leo.

 

 


April Suppiphatvong, O.D.

Dr. April Suppiphatvong is a native to Southern California and is therapeutic optometrist practicing full scope optometry. In addition to treating and managing glaucoma and other ocular diseases, she practices primary care, contact lenses, pediatrics, and vision therapy. She is also certified to fit orthokeratology and CRT (corneal refractive therapy) contact lenses.

Dr. April attended the California State University of Long Beach and University of California Los Angeles receiving her B.S. degree in Physiology with a minor in Chemistry. She then moved to Manhattan, New York to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry in 2010. Dr. April completed externships at various sites such as the VA Hospital in Tucson, Arizona where she gained much experience with ocular diseases, as well as a private practice specializing in pediatrics and vision therapy. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, as well as the College of Vision Development. She strives to give back to the community by staying involved with charitable optometric organizations such as VOSH (Volunteering Optometrists Serving Humanity), where she attended a mission trip to Lima, Peru to help those who could not afford vision care.

In addition to speaking her native language Thai, Dr. April can also conduct a full eye exam in spanish. In her free time, Dr. April likes to cook, shop, travel, workout, and be outdoors.


 


Gina Shao, O.D.

Dr. Shao has been practicing optometry since 2003.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, and her Doctor of Optometry degree from State University of New York State College of Optometry.  During the program  she had the opportunity to specialize in pediatrics at SUNY as well as ocular desease and low vision at Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Long Island, New York.

Since Graduating, Dr. Shao has worked with different patient demographics and in various settings.  Besides being licensed in therapeutic management, she focuses on primary care, contact lens, ocular disease, and vision therapy.  She speaks fluent Mandarin and some Spanish.  She has traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico for eyecare missions and regularly volunteers in an eye clinic in San Fernando Valley.  In her spare time she enjoys music, hiking, cooking, crafts and spending time with family and friends.  

 


Yvonne

Yvonne is one of our Optometric Assistants and has been with our office going on 8 years. She is very friendly and helpful in addressing your eyecare needs. Yvonne is fashion forward and knowledgable in todays eyewear trends. She is also certified with the American Board of Opticianry(ABO). Yvonne works on her music in her spare time and is currently recording her first album.


Mayra

Mayra has been at our office for almost 4 years. She pre-tests and asists our patients with all their optometric needs. Mayra will be graduating from CSUN this May and will receive her Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology. She plans to get her license in Medical Technology and work in a medical laboratory.


Leslie

Leslie has been working at our office for a year. With a smile, she helps our patients with pre-testing, frame selection and contact lens care. When she is not at the office, Leslie attends Mount St. Mary's College (MSMC) pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Psychology. After obtaining her bachelors, Leslie would like to attend Optometry School. In her free time, Leslie loves going to the beach, spending the day at Disneyland, or working out at the gym.


Joan

With over 4 years of experience in the optometry field, Joan fulfills the needs of patients and takes pride in  providing great customer service. Along with pre-testing, she is knowledgeable with vision insurance.  When she's not at the office, Joan enjoys giving soccer lessons to kids, and is also obtaining a degree in Business Management.
